By now, most people at least know that they should bring their own reusable shopping bag to the grocery store. This prevents waste from plastic and paper shopping bags, which get at best a few uses after returning from the store. However, one eco trend that hasn't quite caught on yet is reusable produce and bulk bags - every day thousands of shoppers use the provided small, thin plastic or biodegradable bags at the market without even realizing there's an alternative, and they usually end up in the landfills. Good thing there's a fantastic option: reusable produce bags made from cotton, canvas, or related plastic! Skip to the bottom for the video.

I am thrilled to be part of The Neat Fleet, a group of specialists who are passionate about using Neat products to reduce paper clutter and increase their productivity. After I did a video on Neat Desk last year around tax season, I was asked to be Neat's eco fleeter and I am featured on their site now in honor or Earth Month! This is a great opportunity for me to teach businesses and their employees how to make their offices more eco-friendly.

EVG Q&A: Natural Deodorant

Question:
Whats a good natural deodorant?

Answer:
The Crystal is amazing - been using it for years (click to read my review)! It's just salt, and you can get it as a solid rock or as a spray (the former has less or no packaging). Some people also use baking soda - rub it on with a bit of water or oil (like coconut oil).

Eco-Vegan Valentine's Day: digital simplicity

Two of the keys to being eco-vegan are:

  • simplicity
  • cutting out waste
This even applies to Valentine's Day, and I'm happy to report that this February 14th was in line with my standards. I created a digital card for my boyfriend using Photoshop and posted it on his Facebook wall for him to see when he woke up in the morning. Then we each surprised each-other with video messages via email, since we don't live in the same city. In his video he was planting some vegetables and herbs in his San Fran window-sill garden - talk about a perfect guy for me!

I've had my eye on Justin's Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups for a while, but for some reason I never bought them. Perhaps it was the price: $1.99 for 2 small cup seemed a little steep. However, I decided to treat myself when I spotted them at Whole Foods today.

For those of you who don't know, I'm a big Apple nerd. I absolutely love their products and own many of them. I know how to use almost all of their software. And one of my favorite things is when they make big announcements. Therefore I was on the edge of my seat for the past few days while waiting to see if Verizon was finally going to support the iPhone. You see, I still own the original iPhone - yes, the very first generation that came out over 3 years ago.

I have been holding out on buying a new iPhone for many reasons.
