Greetings from Farm Sanctuary

I'm back up North at Farm Sanctuary for the first time for their Hoe Down. This place is beautiful and amazing. Taking lots of photos and videos (as usual) and doing interviews - spoke with Will Tuttle and his wife earlier. Not sure when the full posts will be up, but I hope you enjoy these photos in the meantime! : )

During the Home Tree Earth Day VIP ReceptionRobert Cheeke and I asked actor & activist Adrian Grenier how his diet was eco-friendly - he didn't have much to say on the topic so it was very brief.  He started off by asserting that he is "certainly not vegan", but said he thinks food tastes better when you're paying attention. In fact, Adrian enjoys "inspecting the tomatoes and feeling the melons". Check out the video to hear about one of his favorite vegetarian dishes.

As a big Lost fan, I was really excited that Robert and I had a chance to interview Michelle Rodriguez at the Home Tree Earth Day VIP Reception. She was quite down-to-earth yet very passionate and feisty. When we asked how her diet was eco-friendly, she cringed and said "you're not going to be happy with my answer", admitting she "needs some work in that area". Since she knew we are vegans, she teased us and countered with: "salads have feelings too!"

I was thrilled to see my former bosses Josh Tickell & Rebecca Harrell Tickell at the Home Tree Earth Day VIP Reception, and they had some wonderful things to say on camera. As with all of our interviews, Robert and I asked then how their diet was eco-friendly. Josh said, "veganism is the ultimate expression when we talk about reducing our carbon footprint", even though he's not a vegetarian (he tried but struggled with maintaining his weight and health). However, Josh and Rebecca are passionate about organic and local food - I saw them eat very healthy every day while working in their office.

One of my favorite interviews from the Home Tree Earth Day VIP Reception was with vegan John Salley. Like Robert Cheeke, Salley (NBA champion, TV Host, Actor, and Wellness Guru) is proof that vegans can be healthy and successful athletes. In this interview, he speaks about becoming a true vegetarian, producing the documentary Simply Raw, losing weight, and being a conscious capitalist. He also shares one of his recipes at the end. My favorite quote: "I'm not against meat, I'm for vegetables. I'm not against war, I'm for peace."

Robert Cheeke was my correspondent at the Home Tree Earth Day VIP Reception last night and we were thrilled to interview James Cameron. Since Robert and I are each focused on healthy eating, we thought we'd ask Cameron how his diet is eco-friendly. Though he's not a vegan, he had some great things to say about organic, local food, growing gardens, and raising children. In fact, he further inspired me to consider finding a way to grow my own food - which will be tricky in an apartment with no balcony...

If you're in Los Angeles or Canada, I HIGHLY recommend going to see Robert. I had an incredible experience, beyond any massage or chiropractic work I've ever had. If you're not in those areas, look into Cranio Sacral work and give it a try.

Had a delicious meal at the new Veggie Grill location in West Hollywood with Christy of Viva la Greens: Chickin' Caesar Wrap, All Hail Kale salad, Sweetheart Fries, Bean Me Up Chili, peach iced tea and lemonade, carrot cake, and chocolate pudding.

Then I met and interviewed Kevin Boylan, the owner. He had some great things to say, and addressed the rumor about having the same recipes as Native Foods.

When I interviewed Shaun Monson at WorldFest in 2009 about his life-changing documentary Earthlings I had no idea it would become one of my most popular videos on YouTube. Even though that movie made a huge impact on my perspective, at the time I didn't realize how many others it had touched. Now I've found that anytime that film is brought up in verbal or social media conversation there is a very strong emotional reaction - it has made millions of people around the world consider how they treat animals.
