Best Vegan Snacks (EVG Q&A)

Published in How To

The first time I had a Sunshine Burger was a few years ago and honestly, I really didn't like it. I wanted to, because they seemed much healthy than most vegan burgers - organic, gluten-free, and soy-free. But I disliked the taste and texture so much I left the box in my freezer for a while, until I pulled it out and gave it another try with the same reaction.

We've all been there - time is running out and just as you're headed out the door you remember you haven't eaten all day. With no time to make or pack food - what to do? Or, you're at the airport about to board a plane and don't want to be stuck without anything to eat or paying $10 for a bag of GMO potato chips. That's exactly why GoPicnic was created.

I've had my eye on Justin's Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups for a while, but for some reason I never bought them. Perhaps it was the price: $1.99 for 2 small cup seemed a little steep. However, I decided to treat myself when I spotted them at Whole Foods today.

WARNING: the following video contains nudity! Well, technically you'll just see bare legs, arms, and upper chest...and maybe a hint of more (I'm too much of a good girl so I edited out the rest), but I had to get your attention. ; ) Feel free to read the story, or just skip right to the good stuff in the video below, where you'll get an inside look at an organic sunless tanning company.

I've been babysitting since I was about 12 years old because I love children and it's a great way to make extra money; I still do it from time to time for those reasons. Today, I looked after one of my favorite families in Los Angeles, but made some interesting observations about their lifestyles.

Let me begin by saying that my feelings and thoughts on this matter are not meant to come across as a judgement, especially on this family. Mainly, I am frustrated with mass production of some baby products, which are marketed as healthy and nutritious but are far from it. Families purchase these items because they are inexpensive and have familiar brand names, and it saddens me that there is so much ignorance.

I've never been a big drinker, but in recent years I've developed a taste for beer and I like to have it on occasion. It all started when I discovered Fat Tire - not only is it delicious, but New Belgium is very sustainable and it's often on-tap in CA. That was my beer of choice until I went gluten-free and realized beer was full of it. I wasn't too upset about giving up that occasional treat, but was pretty happy to learn that there are a few gluten-free and vegan beers.

Cooking with Eric Lechasseur

As a result of being one of Seed Kitchen's best customers I've come to know the chef and owners very well: Eric Lechassuer and Sanae Suzuki. Recently they asked me to help them with cooking videos, and they came out very well.

Here are the first 2 videos in the series. Join Eric as he demonstrates how to make 2 organic, macrobiotic recipes from his books "Love Eric" and "Love Eric and Sanae". Both these dishes are delicious and easy - they each take less than 10 minutes to prepare. I highly recommend that you try them, especially if you've never been to Seed (you're missing out!).
