This club is free and open to everyone. All you have to do is join me on Google+ (a free social network similar to Facebook - if you have Gmail you already have an account) and let me know that you'd like to be a part of the group. At the beginning of each month I'll suggest books and the members will vote on one to read. You can order the book online, pick up a copy at the library or download it to a electronic device (I'll provide links for all of this). Then, at the end of the month, I'll schedule the Hangout (a video and audio feature of Google+) and we'll discuss it! Hope you'll join us!
The first month is this August and this is the book that was chosen via vote on my Google+ page.
Plastic-Free: How I Kicked the Plastic Habit and How You Can Too by Beth Terry: This is the only book from the options that I haven't read yet, though I have to finish it by August 8th for a review. However, I am confident I will love it because I've been following Beth for years and she is easily one of my favorite bloggers for sources of information and inspiration. We share fervor for reducing plastic, though she has found ways to live almost entirely without it and shares all of her tricks in the book, so I can't wait to read it! It outlines the importance of avoiding plastics, which everyone should understand.
Here are some options for reading the book:
- Buy it * (click here for link). Eco fact: The hardback book is about 350 pages and was created by Skyhorse Publishing Company without any plastic materials, including plastic glue, coatings, or even synthetic thread!
- Download it to your Kindle or NOOK (or get a compatible app if you have an iPad)
- Find it at your local library - if they don't have it yet, request it.
