I have been using other natural vegan mouthwashes and toothpastes for about a year now. I have been happy with them, they cleaned my teeth and left my mouth feeling refreshed. But boy, oh boy, my outlook on vegan natural mouth care was completely changed when I had the liberty to try the Desert Essence line. My mouth has never felt so refreshed, clean and minty. Not to mention my teeth are getting whiter and staying there with consistent use.
I have to admit I was taken aback by the product the first time I used it. I am not certain exactly what made me question the product, whether it was the use of tea tree oil or the use of fennel, but it left a questionable taste in my mouth; I did not give up on the product though. I have a rule in my house when it comes to trying new things: "everything must be given three to four chances before you officially decide to like it or hate it." Given this rule, I kept using it and eventually I got used to the taste. As mentioned earlier, I found my mouth was left feeling fresher, cleaner and mintier than ever before. So, if you are not sold on the product at first, don't toss it away, keep trying.
A couple of my favorite things about this company are:
- Vegan
- No Animal Testing
- Draws inspiration from the desert, "a model of pristine balance and sustainability, where limited resources, if used responsibly, offer the body and spirit untold benefits."
Look for Desert Essence at Whole Foods, Sprouts and other natural retailers nationwide for a price around $6.99-$7.99.
