Last December, right before heading home for the holidays, I got my very first spray tan. You may be scratching your head and wondering: A. why would I want to be tan in the winter and B. why would Eco-Vegan Gal get a fake tan full of chemicals. The truth is my friend gave me a free visit and I was excited about returning to the chilly NorthEast and basking in my friends' envy of my sunkissed skin. However, the only reason I gave the spray tan a shot was because I knew it was organic and vegan, and I had to experienced it to believe it.
I had such an amazing experience at Chocolate Sun in Santa Monica that I decided to do a video feature on them. I visited their new location in West Hollywood this past June, but my busy schedule prevented me from editing it together until now (mainly thanks to my amazing intern Rachel). I am thrilled to present this review and interview with Kimmie Worley, co-owner of Chocolate Sun and Flowers Organics. In this video you'll see me strip down to my birthday suit and get chocolatized, while Kimmie explains how her products are organic, all-natural, vegan, and eco-friendly.
Chocolate Sun has 2 owner-operated locations in Los Angeles, but if you're not in town you may be able to find their products in some spas, resorts, and hotels around the country and internationally. But don't expect to see them in another tanning salon - they are very diligent in making sure that their skin care (and they truly mean skin care) is only used at places where people are doing good things for their skin (and your skin).
If you are in L.A., or plan to visit, I highly recommend you add Chocolate Sun to your to-do list. And since this is California, tans are in style year round! The color you'll achieve is perfect for a night out on the town, a red carpet event, a hot date, or simply for a self-esteem boost. The cost of a session is quite low in terms of the VIP treatment you'll receive and the beautiful results. And this isn't exclusive to women or particular skin types - check out the video and Kimmie will explain why.
