Eating Raw

Ever since I worked at Taste of the Goddess Cafe (West Hollywood), I've loved eating Raw foods. However, it's a hard diet to do full-time. I've "gone raw" a few times since working at the cafe - my longest stint was 3 months and that was in 2006 - I haven't really done it since because I couldn't motivate myself. Then, last week I was inspired by a friend and all of the sudden I'm eating raw again - and I feel incredible! The raw diet is definitely something my body loves- I have so much energy and I'm eating a lot less - it's almost a spiritual experience.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Raw diet:
- Raw is typically vegan, though honey is often used and occasionally raw dairy
- Raw is almost entirely organic, unless certain products (like thai coconuts) are not available in organic
- Raw food is not cooked, but can be heated up to around 100 degrees (fahrenheit)
- Raw food usually consists of: fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds

If you're interested in eating Raw, this is a great site.
This other site lists raw foods around the world. (I definitely want to go to Grezzo when I'm in Boston this winter)

If you live in the L.A. area, RAW is my favorite restaurant. I also enjoy Euphoria Loves Rawvolution and Leaf. You can find raw food at many natural markets, such as Whole Foods, the Santa Monica CoOp, Rainbow Acres, or Erewhon
