I attend a lot of events that are about being green, healthy, and/or vegan. But I often find that they aren't extremely sustainable - there often seems to be unnecessary waste. For example, Natural Products Expo West is a fantastic event but it's unbelievable how much packaging it thrown away during and after the show. This inspired me to make a video on the ways I'm being eco-friendly at these events and how they can make a big difference.
If you don't have time to watch the following video, here are the tips:
- Carpool
- Bring Your Own Bag
- Bring Your Own Food Container
- Bring Your Own Utensils
- Bring Your Own Bottle/Mug
- Look For Sample Containers That Are Eco-Friendly (compostable or made out of paper ideally)
- **Only Take Samples You Want - don't take something just because it's free, take it if you really want to try it
- Encourage Sustainable Packaging
- Take Notes Digitally (on mobile device or tablet computer) When At Seminars/Lectures
- Digital Business Cards - write down contact information or use a mobile app to capture it, and then email your information
- Bring Your Own Lanyard (for name tag/badge) If You've Saved Them From Previous Events
